News release from CSPD:

On 3/12/19, at around 11:52 PM, officers with the College Station Police Department were dispatched to Rough Draught, a bar in the Northgate Business District, located at 313 Church Ave, for reports of a fight in progress. The caller said a male was badly cut during the fight. Officers arrived on scene, and found another male, Nicholas Taylor, a 38-year-old College Station resident, restrained by the bar staff. Once all parties were separated, and the victim received medical treatment, officers began to investigate the incident.

Through the investigation it was learned that Taylor grabbed a female in the bar who was friends with the victim. In order to defend the female from Taylor’s offensive contact, the victim tried to separate her and Taylor. Taylor started to fight with the victim, and in the ruckus they fell over a table, breaking a bottle on it. Taylor grabbed the bottom of the bottle, and swiped the victim’s face with it. This caused several lacerations to the victim’s face, one of which was a deep laceration very close to his eye. This also caused concern with the bar staff, and they detained Taylor until CSPD arrived. Since Taylor used the bottom of a broken beer bottle in a manner likely to cause serious bodily injury, or even death given the proximity the lacerations were to the victim’s neck, he was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The victim was treated at a local hospital for the lacerations.
