Major Water Line Break In College Station

A major water line broke Saturday afternoon in College Station.

Water resources coordinator Jennifer Nations started receiving calls around 4 p.m. of the 12 inch line that broke outside Genghis Grill at University near Tarrow.

The break, at the fire hydrant near the gas meter next to the restaurant, caused the water to run down the alley between Genghis Grill and Rosa’s Cafe.

Nations says repairs are expected to be completed overnight.

The break is blamed on shifting soil due to drought conditions.

There were reports of discolored water, which Nations said was due to sediment being moved when water was redirected away from the break.

College Station water customers wanting to report discolored water can call 855-528-4278.
