Local First Responders Awarded for Service

The 100 Club, which provides financial support to the dependents of law enforcement officers and firefighters who are killed or seriously injured in the line of duty in 32 counties surrounding Houston, awarded three local first responders for their exceptional service.

William Skeen, Executive Director, says although coronavirus prevented them from having a formal ceremony this year, it has not stopped these first responders from serving their community.

“That is what officers and first responders do, they are here to serve, they care. Whatever the challenges are, they are going the step up to it, whether its COVID, flooding, hurricanes, they’re going to protect and serve us every day,” said Skeen.

Award recipients included College Station firefighter/paramedics Bryan Cohen and Joseph Valdez and Deputy Brazos County School Resource Unit officer Jayson Lyday.
