Local Arrests Involving Repeated Domestic Violence Charges, A High Speed Chase, And A Bryan Police Officer Who Was Injured While Taking A Shoplifter Into Custody

College Station police arrest a 19 year old Waco man for the fourth time in the last year and a half on domestic violence charges involving the same victim. CSPD arrest reports from last Monday (March 26) say the victim, who was at a fast food restaurant, saw Luciano Ortiz take a diaper bag out of her car, then he took her cell phone. In addition to charges of vehicle burglary and theft from a person, Ortiz was arrested for violating a protection order after he was arrested in April of 2023 for continuous violence against the former girlfriend. Jail records also show Ortiz was arrested in August of 2023 for violating a protection order more than twice in a 12 month period. Ortiz is out of jail from his latest arrest after posting bonds totaling $24,000 thousand dollars.

A Bryan man is out of jail after posting bond on a charge of evading a parks and wildlife game warden after speeding out of Lake Bryan Saturday afternoon (March 30). The game warden’s arrest report says Bryan police learned the pickup was found in a garage about ten miles away, across the freeway from Sam Rayburn school. The driver told the game warden he was going over 120 miles per hour. 22 year old Joseph Gonzales of Bryan was driving a friend’s pickup with the friend along for the ride. Gonzales’s bond was set at $5,000 dollars.

A Bryan police officer who responded to a shoplifting call at the westside Walmart store Friday afternoon (March 29) wound up with a bruised elbow and several scrapes. The BPD arrest report says the officer tackled the 19 year old suspect. Then the BPD officer received assistance from an off duty jail officer to place the suspect in the patrol vehicle. Arrested for stealing $94 dollars in merchandise, evading and resisting arrest, and giving a false name, was Chelsie Paldo of Navasota. She was also arrested on two warrants from College Station police on undisclosed charges. Paldo remains in jail as of April 2 in lieu of bonds totaling $15,000 dollars.
