HBV is the only non-profit hospice provider in the 17 county region.

News release from Hospice Brazos Valley:

The Hospice Brazos Valley Board of Directors announced today that Lisa McNair, HBV Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, has been named the new President and CEO effective January 1. She replaces Craig Borchardt, current President and CEO, who is retiring.

Borchardt has served as President and CEO of Hospice Brazos Valley, an organization providing hospice and palliative care in 17 counties in central Texas, since 2006. He officially informed the board and staff of his retirement earlier this year.

Borchardt’s exceptional leadership promoted an expansion of HBV’s services, including the development of a delivery site in La Grange, TX which joined HBV delivery sites in Bryan and Brenham, and the creation of the only hospice inpatient unit in the entire service area. During Dr. Borchardt’s tenure, HBV saw a significant increase in the number of patients served and an exceptional commitment to outstanding patient care.

Borchardt has been involved in the hospice and palliative care movement in the Bryan-College Station area for over 20 years. He currently serves as the Past Chair of the Texas Non-Profit Hospice Alliance, a consortium of 20 non-profit hospices dedicated to expanding the non-profit hospice model throughout Texas. Equally important has been HBV’s commitment to robust strategic initiatives to insure Hospice Brazos Valley’s financial integrity and viability in an increasingly challenging and complex health care environment. Craig’s time at HBV has included collaboration with a remarkable team of managers and exceptional members of both the Hospice Brazos Valley and Hospice Brazos Valley Living Endowment Board of Directors. During his tenure Endowment assets grew from $110,000 in 2006 to almost $2 million in 2021.

A reception, open to the public, honoring Dr. Craig Borchardt will be held on the following days and locations:

December 2, 2021, 3:30 pm at our Bryan office, 502 W. 26th
December 7, 2021, 4 pm at our Brenham office, 302 E. Blue Bell
December 8, 2021, 4 pm at our LaGrange office, 1048 N. Jefferson

“Lisa McNair brings 9 years of experience to us as CFO, and almost 30 years in the healthcare industry; we are truly fortunate to have her lead Hospice Brazos Valley,” says Borchardt.

McNair, who takes the helm on January 1, says “I am excited about continuing to provide leadership for HBV in this new role and serving all those in the communities that make up our 17 county service area. Hospice Brazos Valley provides outstanding care and I look forward to leading our mission to help navigate the end of life journey.”

McNair is a graduate of Texas A&M University. She served as an adjunct professor at the Texas A&M Health Science Center School of Public Health, teaching Healthcare Financial Management to Masters of Healthcare Administration students. An active member of Christ United Methodist Church, Lisa also served on the Board of Directors for the Methodist Retirement Communities from 2015-2019. Lisa and her husband, John, have been married for 35 years and have two sons and a daughter-in-law.
