COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M freshman Keeli Milligan was named SEC Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Milligan led the Aggies with a .571 (8-for-14) average at the plate with three runs scored, an RBI and her first career triple as Texas A&M won its series against No. 6 Auburn.
The speedster from Vidor, Texas also nabbed her 51st stolen base of the season, which is tied for the lead in the SEC.
In the series opener, Milligan went 3-for-5 with two runs scored, including the game-tying run in the seventh as the Aggies defeated the Tigers 6-5 in eight innings.
Milligan proved to be the game-tying run in game two, scoring on a sophomore Ashley Walters infield single and was the first of Texas A&M’s nine unanswered runs in its 13-6 win.
Milligan closed out the series with a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI triple down the left-field line, scoring freshman Riley Sartain.
Milligan and the Aggies will open the SEC Tournament on Wednesday against No. 7 seed LSU at 1:30 p.m. The game can be seen on the SEC Network and can be heard locally on KWBC 1550 AM or online at www.RadioAggieland.com.
