Katrina Victims Displaced Again By Fire

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ Some displaced Katrina victims from New Orleans lost their homes again in an apartment complex fire in Austin on the fifth anniversary of the hurricane.

Authorities say at least half a dozen people were injured during the blaze Sunday.

The cause of the fire, which damaged or destroyed more than a dozen units, is sought. More than 40 residents were displaced. Leslie Hypolite says “this is unreal.” Another Katrina survivor, Locardier Fontenette, says “five years later, look at what we go through.”

Four people were taken to Austin-area hospitals. One woman was transported to a hospital in San Antonio for treatment of burns.

Further details on their conditions were not immediately available.

Another woman broke her ankle and was treated at the scene.
