Jordan Jones Named a Finalist for WBCA Defensive Player of the Year

ATLANTA- Texas A&M junior guard Jordan Jones was one of six finalists named by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) for the 2015 WBCA Division I Defensive Player of the Year.

Jones, who was named an AP All-American on Tuesday, was the SEC’s Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season, becoming only the second player in SEC history to win the award twice. She led the SEC in assists for the second straight season, and ranks in the top 10 nationally in that category for the second straight year.

The Defensive Player of the Year award honors the best defensive collegiate Division I women’s basketball player. All Division I conference defensive players of the year are eligible to be nominated for the award.  A selection committee makes the final decision on the winner. If a conference does not select a defensive player of the year, the conference representative can nominate one player to be considered.

The winner will be announced during the Fifth Annual WBCA Awards Show, which will be held at 4:30 p.m. CT Monday, April 6, in Tampa Bay. This event is part of the WBCA National Convention and is held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women’s Final Four®.
