The intersection of Harvey Road and Copperfield was closed for nine hours on Thursday by an overturned dump truck.

College Station police reported the crash took place around 7:30 a.m. WTAW News received a text from a listener shortly after 5 p.m. stating Harvey was open.

CSPD says the extended closure was to cleanup a spill of byproducts from a sewage treatment plant.

CSPD was told that the runoff generated from washing down the roadway had to be collected.

Officers were told the driver of the dump truck veered into oncoming traffic then overcorrected, which caused the truck to overturn.

Why the driver left his lane remains under investigation.

The driver, who was ticketed for failing to maintain a single lane, sustained minor injuries that did not require a trip to the hospital.
