College Station ISD school board members award a contract associated with the second phase of the district’s career and technical education (CTE) center. The board approved facilities director Paul Buckner’s recommendation for a guaranteed maximum price of $2.3 million dollars for the pre-engineered metal building portion of the project. This will be the home of CSISD’s ag mechanics, auto tech, construction, cosmetology, and welding programs. There will also be space for a multipurpose arena and offices. Buckner said construction is scheduled to start this summer and take 12 to 15 months to complete, weather permitting. This is part of the bond package that was approved by CSISD voters in November 2023. A memo to the board says they will consider “in the next couple of months”, the final guaranteed maximum price for the construction of the CTE phase two project. A Bryan man is going to prison for the third time for evading arrest. Online records show this is the 31st criminal case in Brazos County district court involving 37 year old Marcus McKever. McKever and the district attorney’s office reached a plea agreement on February 13th where he was sentenced to eight years. This conviction followed an arrest in May 2023 where he was with several women who were arguing near Bryan’s Scurry Park. The Bryan police report said McKever ran away and hid under a vehicle until he asked for a specific officer, who convinced him to get out. McKever’s prior prison sentences for felony evading were in 2017 and 2013.
An agreement is reached between Bryan ISD and the Texas A&M health science center (HSC) regarding students who are identified as having what is described as having a high risk mental health challenge. Click HERE to read and download the agreement that was approved at the February 17, 2025 Bryan ISD school board meeting. According to the agreement, Bryan ISD students would be identified by teachers, counselors, nurses, or administrators. With parental permission, students will be seen online by HSC staff and doctoral students. The primary goals are assessment and stabilization. Those options includes case consultation, risk assessment, psychoeducation, and psychopharmacological interventions. If ongoing care is needed, the student will be referred elsewhere. The five year agreement that was approved by the board without discussion as part of its consent agenda is the result of state legislation that was passed six years ago.
