TxDOT Plans At Tabor Road And The Freeway Includes Designating A New Farm To Market Highway

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Bryan district office has plans to change traffic at another location in Bryan. Next year, two lane traffic on Tabor Road in front of Arena Hall by the freeway will become only southbound. It’s part of adding a center lane on Tabor Road at the freeway and adding a sidewalk that will connect to an existing sidewalk on Wilkes Street. The project also means renaming the portion of FM 974 between Highway 21 and the freeway as FM 823. The FM 974 designation will continue east of the freeway. A TxDOT spokesman tells WTAW News that reconfiguring the section of Tabor Road to one way traffic “will result in a break in the continuous access of FM 974. The break in continuous access is why we are proposing to redesignate FM 974 south of SH 6 as FM 823.” Click HERE to read and download more information from the TxDOT website. TxDOT anticipates design plans to be completed by the summer of 2025 with construction starting in early 2026. TxDOT is currently in the process of acquiring one acre of right of way. Public comments are being accepted until March 1st by contacting the TxDOT Bryan district office by sending an email to BRY_PubComment@txdot.gov or mailing the Bryan district office at 2591 North Earl Rudder Freeway, Bryan TX 77803 and addressing the letter to the attention of Sydney Fox. Bryan City Council Adjusts Some Parks & Recreation Fees For The First Time Since 2021

The Bryan city council approves the first changes in the fee schedule for parks and recreation programs and services since August of 2021. Deputy city manager Hugh Walker and city manager Kean Register said this follows studying Bryan’s fee schedule compared with cities with similar parks departments. Walker noted there were some increases or first time additional fees charged to non residents. And there is a new $50 dollar cleaning deposit to rent a park pavilion area. What the council approved was recommended by Bryan’s parks and recreation advisory board last November. Bryan Man Arrested For DWI With Four Prior Convictions And A Bryan Woman Arrested During Her Son’s Juvenile Court Probation Hearing

A Bryan man is out of jail after posting bond following a weekend arrest for DWI with four prior convictions. The Bryan police arrest report says this follows a traffic stop Saturday (February 15) at three in the morning when an officer saw an oncoming car without its headlights on. 54 year old Jose Mendoza-Tirado, who went to jail after failing field sobriety tests, was released Monday (February 17) after posting a $13,000 dollar bond. The mother of a son involved in a juvenile court probation hearing on Valentine’s Day winds up in jail. The arrest report from a deputy constable attending the hearing says 38 year old Leshonda Jackson attempted to spit at the juvenile probation officer. Online records show it is the 16th time the mother has been booked in the adult jail since July 2005. Jackson is awaiting trials on a felony charge of causing a hit and run crash resulting in an injury and misdemeanor charges of interfering with public duties and making a false statement. As of February 17, Jackson remains jailed in lieu of a $15,000 dollar bond on a charge of harassing a public servant. Jackson was quoted in the arrest report as saying she was sick and coughing. The deputy constable said during the entire court hearing that Jackson did not cough nor did she appear to be sick.
