Wellborn Special Utility District Announces Water Main Repair on Old Hearne Road Thursday

The Wellborn Special Utility District announced water service will be turned off on Old Hearne Road to repair a water main on Thursday. The water will be turned off at 9am and is expected to be back on by 3pm. Main repairs will be along the 1.6 miles of Old Hearne Road between Sutton Road and Woody Lane. Affected areas may include Watts Lane, Log Cabin Lane, Wild Dogwood Lane, Lee Chapel Road, River Ridge Drive, Piper Lane, Vista Oaks, Ella Lane, Spring Creek Ranch Road, Prospect Circle, Bowman Road, and FM 2549.

College Station City Council Meeting Preview 07/23/2026

The College Station City Council is slated to meet Thursday night. The main order of business will be the approximately $576-million proposed city budget for fiscal year 2027. A public hearing will be the first item on the regular agenda. The Regular Agenda takes place after presentations, the Consent Agenda, and the Workshop Agenda. Another hot button topic will be workshop item #2…a presentation on the use of automated license plate readers (ALPR), often referred to as FLOCK cameras. Public session will begin at approximately 6pm. The Consent Agenda includes approximately $8.9-million in spending: $7,052,842 will be for Texas Independence Park. Amenities will include a bike track, playground, picnic areas, disc golf, fishing, and trails. $543,300 for the lease of solid waste containers. $64,988 for engineering and design of city sidewalks and shared-use paths. Fees include an arborist and tree preservation services during design and construction for the city-wide sidewalk extension/connections of high priority sidewalks near CSISD schools and Texas A&M University Campus, as well as Bee Creek Tributary B shared use path extension, Bee Creek Trail shared use path extension, and Spring Creek Trail Phase 4 shared use path. $50,000 for the College Heights Utility Rehabilitation Project. Includes the rehabilitation of water and wastewater lines in the northside area, in the vicinity of Hensel, Eisenhower Street, University Drive, Jane Street, and Nimitz Street. $680,200 for the Dowling Road Pump Station storage tanks recoating and disinfection. $497,270 for Well 9 Rehabilitation Project. Other items on the Consent Agenda: 2nd reading of an ordinance granting United Site Solutions, LLC a non-exclusive franchise for the use of public streets, alleys, and public rights-of-ways within the city for the purpose of providing collection of demolition and construction debris, recyclables, and organic waste from commercial, industrial, and multi-family sites. Interlocal agreement with the Texas A&M University Health Science Center. The agreement would allow CSPD to work with TAMUHSC to coordinate and interview adult sexual assault victims with a forensic interviewer. The process is trauma-informed and prevents victims from being re-victimized multiple times through police interaction. There is no cost to the city. FY 2027 (Y2026) Annual Action Plan and the FY 2027 Community Development Budget. 4th amendment to the lease agreement with CEO, Etc. increasing the use of City dark fiber optic cable. CEO Etc. has requested an amendment to the lease agreement to add the use of additional fibers. Workshop Agenda will include the following presentations and discussion: Fiscal Year 2027 BVSWMA, Inc. budget City use of automated license plate readers (ALPR) Strategic regional water utility collaboration and mutual support initiatives Big 6 community branding signage Regular Agenda: Public hearing on the 2026-2027 Proposed Budget Presentation, discussion, and possible action on an ordinance authorizing the issuance of certificates of obligation; delegating the authority to certain city officials to execute certain documents relating to the sale of the certificates; approving and authorizing an official statement and instruments and procedures relating to said certificates; and enacting other provisions relating to the subject. Presentation, discussion, and possible action on an ordinance authorizing the redemption of a portion of the City of College Station General Obligation Improvement & Refunding Bonds, Series 2014 and approving a related escrow agreement. Presentation, discussion, and possible action regarding a resolution to determine if the City will institute eminent domain proceedings in regards to the Rock Prairie East widening project.

The City of College Station has announced several cooling station locations around town this week. We’re under an extreme heat advisory today, as the heat index could exceed 110 degrees. Residents whose home air conditioning is struggling or who need a temporary break from the outdoors are encouraged to use these public spaces to cool down and hydrate.
