Ike-Damaged Home Mistakenly Demolished

CRYSTAL BEACH, Texas (AP) _ A resident of Hurricane Ike-damaged Bolivar Peninsula wants to know who wrongly demolished his soon-to-be-fixed house.

KFDM-TV reports Bill Reynolds on Tuesday visited the Crystal Beach slab where his 1,100 square foot elevated home had been.

The 56-year-old construction worker told The Associated Press that “somebody just come on my property without my permission and tore my house down.”

Reynolds said the Sept. 13 hurricane damaged the roof, but the three-bedroom house was repairable.

Reynolds had hired someone to estimate the cost of repairs. He received a call Feb. 6 from the person saying the house had been bulldozed.

Reynolds and his family, who evacuated to Waco before Ike hit, have a smaller second cabin at Crystal Beach that suffered less hurricane damage and is livable.
