As if there’s not enough pressure already during a high school student’s freshman year, the state of Texas has added to the load. This is the first year of mandated end of course testing.
College Station School District spokesman Chuck Glenewinkel says it will apply this year to freshman level courses.
Of further confusion, the state’s exam is taken three to four weeks before the end of the course and the teacher’s final test. Glenewinkel says teachers and counselors have developed what will happen the rest of the semester.
The new state tests will eventually affect all high school students.
