HOUSTON (AP) _ Two past or current leaders in Hempstead face prison for soliciting and accepting bribes linked to city demolition contracts.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Houston says now-former Mayor Pro-Tem Larry Wilson and Alderman Paris Kincade Jr. pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit federal programs fraud.
Kincade, 53, pleaded guilty Thursday and will be sentenced May 20. The 42-year-old Wilson pleaded guilty Wednesday has a May 14 sentencing date.
The men, who are free on bond, face up to five years in prison and fines of up to $250,000.
U.S. Attorney’s Office spokeswoman Angela Dodge told The Associated Press that Kincade, during his court appearance, said he planned to resign as alderman.
A witness cooperated in the investigation going back to 2006. Details on the individual were not released.
