A suspect is in Burleson County Jail in Caldwell after an almost three-and-a-half hour standoff Monday night.
Police tried to stop Robert Lee Putz, Jr,. about 7 p.m. for a traffic violation but he fled the scene.
Officers later found Putz, 41, in a home on Westview Circle.
As police approached, Putz appeared with what looked like a weapon and threatened authorities.
He then went back inside and later fired on officers. Officers returned fire and the standoff began, forcing the evacuation of surrounding residents.
Putz surrendered peacefully about 11 p.m., allowing residents to return home.
Putz was arrested and charged with felony evading and aggravated assault on a public servant. Bond was set at $80,000.
