Construction is expected to begin on the Wellborn Road / George Bush Drive intersection improvement project in spring 2026.

Dr. Susan Ballabina, Chief of Staff to Texas A&M’s president, says both the campus community and the local community will be impacted.

“It will be disruptive because we all are used to driving through there,” says Dr. Ballabina.

The Texas A&M transportation institute has started gathering public feedback through an online survey.

“To hear from people about their thoughts on how to redirect and what other routes to use,” says Dr. Ballabina.

And the Bryan TxDOT office reports this weekend’s geotechnical investigative efforts at the intersection, which were scheduled to start this weekend in preparation for the project have been postponed due to last weekend’s heavy rainfall. TxDOT will advise the public when the work has been rescheduled.
