Brazos County Crime Stoppers won’t have to pay a reward for finding a wanted fugitive.

About eight hours after the reward notice was issued, 26 year old Gary Eastep of College Station was captured Tuesday night behind a home on Steamboat Run. That’s off Mumford Road about one and a half miles north of Bryan’s Kemp elementary school.

According to an arrest report from the Brazos County sheriff’s office, a deputy spotted an ATV without a license plate on Saunders Street crossing Highway 21.

The deputy reported the ATV did not stop until it struck a fence. Then the driver and a passenger ran into the field.

The passenger was found about 30 yards away. The driver, who was found with the assistance of a K9 officer, was identified as Eastep.

Eastep’s 36th booking at the Brazos County jail includes new charges of evading arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was also arrested on a Brazos County warrant for family violence assault and a Robertson County warrant for failing to appear on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Bonds from Tuesday’s arrest total $24,200 dollars.

According to online court records, Eastep is also awaiting seven trials. One is on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and causing an accident causing an injury, two trials for evading arrest, a fourth trial on charges of possession of a controlled substance and driving with an invalid license, a fifth trial on a charge of interfering with 9-1-1, a sixth trial on charges of driving with an invalid license, possession of marijuana and possession of a dangerous drug, and a seventh trial on a charge of driving with an invalid license.
