Biketober is this Saturday, October 10th. Join the cities of Bryan and College Station and Sister City Greifswald, Germany for a bike ride and a day filled with German inspired fun. Greifswald’s Deputy Mayor is a lead rider at Biketober. Onsite registration opening at 8:30am. The 8.6 mile ride starts at College Station City Hall at 9:30am. Riders will bike to Travis Bryan Midtown Park in Bryan for a wellness stop at the Farmers’ Market. A brass quintet from the Brazos Valley Symphony Orchestra will be playing German music. Riders then cycle back to City Hall. Register for the ride at: https://www.cstx.gov/…/events/community-events/biketober/ If you’ll be on the roads Saturday morning, expect brief stoppages along the route while cyclists pass through. Particularly on South College Avenue and Cavitt Avenue. Don’t want to ride, but still enjoy the festivities? Visit the City Hall South Parking Lot starting at 9:00am for German-inspired food trucks, a passport exposition featuring local arts and culture organizations, and yard games. The celebration lasts until 1:00pm. The Bryan Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Poster Contest is going on now. In honor of Fire Prevention Week (October 4–10, 2026), BFD is calling on all young artists to help spread awareness and safety. This year’s theme is: “Charge into Fire Safety. Safe Charging Is a Superpower!” Who Can Participate: All students in grades Pre-K through 12 enrolled in public, private, parochial, or home school programs are eligible to enter.• Primary Division: Grades Pre-K – 4 • Intermediate Division: Grades 5 – 6 • Middle Division: Grades 7 – 8 • High School Division: Grades 9 – 12 Required Information: (written on the back of the poster) • Student’s full name • School name • Grade level Poster Guidelines: • Must be the original, individual work of the student • One entry per student • Poster size must be approximately 14 inches by 24 inches • Any flat art medium is welcome: paint, cut-outs, pen/ink, crayons, chalk, pencil, or digital artPlease Do Not Use: • Any object over ½ inch in height • Live matches • Glass or fragile materials DEADLINE: Posters must be turned in by October 31st at the Fire Marshal’s office: 414 Lawrence St, Bryan, TX 77801. Bryan Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Wildflower Drive for a Burglary of a Motor Vehicle just after midnight Wednesday morning. The caller reported seeing four individuals wearing dark clothing and facemasks, entering a vehicle that did not belong to them. The witness provided accurate information and direction of travel of the suspects as they fled on foot. Officers located four suspects matching the description in the 2200 block of Briarcrest Drive. The suspects ran from police, but were apprehended in a wooded area south of the Wells Fargo Bank. The department says multiple vehicles were found to have been burglarized in the 2900 block of Wildflower Drive. All four suspects are juveniles. They were booked into the Brazos County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with Burglary of a Motor Vehicle and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity. BPD wants to remind the community to Lock, Take, Hide. Lock your doors, take all valuables out of your vehicle, and hide items when they cannot be removed. The investigation remains open.
