Friday, May 6th marks the 8th annual Atticus Finch Day celebrating the fictional character in author Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird.
The Law Office of Shane Phelps, P.C., along with Banks and Banks, Attorneys at Law, P.C. and The Brazos County Bar Association are hosting the event, which begins at 11:30 a.m. at the Brazos County Administration Building.
Shane Phelps said the event features two guest speakers, one being legendary Harris County prosecutor, Rusty Hardin. Hardin has represented several famous athletes including Roger Clemens, Calvin Johnson and Adrian Peterson. He also famously cross examined Anna Nicole Smith.
The other is Distinguished Professor of Literature at Texas A&M, Dr. Jerome Loving. He will discuss the controversial novel, Go Set a Watchman, which is allegedly Harper Lee’s sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird.
The event is free and open to the public. Seersucker attire is encouraged.
