Four men have been in Brazos County district court the last three weeks to admit their involvement in assaulting two men outside a downtown Bryan bar in February of 2023.

Plea agreements with the district attorney’s office results in a five year prison sentence for 28 year old Victor Gonzalez III of Bryan, four years in prison for Rumualdo Rico of Somerville, and five years of probation with 200 hours of community service for 32 year old Fabian Gutierrez and 36 year old Eloy Garza of Bryan.

Online records show Gutierrez was in jail as of November 13th, serving a 30 day sentence after pleading guilty to DWI that took place in February 2024.

A fifth man, 41 year old Moses Galvan of Bryan, has been indicted in the assault. As of November 13, Galvan remains in jail in lieu of a $25,000 dollar bond.

The Bryan police arrest report says around two in the morning on February 11th 2023, the two victims were ambushed by approximately eight men. This followed what one of the victims described was a “small altercation” in the bar’s bathroom where someone pushed him.

One of the victims said he suffered a broken vertebrate and his eyes were severely swollen shut from the attack.

BPD’s investigation was assisted by video from inside the bar and identifying suspects through social media.
