Three persons have been arrested by Texas game wardens as part of their follow-up investigation after the capture of a man charged with assaulting two game wardens in Limestone County Saturday.
Arrested about 8:30 p.m. Monday were Michael Duane Daniel, 44, of Fairfield; William A. “Trey” Davidson III, 37, of Teague and Tanja Marie Lee, 37, of Mexia. The three were arrested after game wardens and other officers searched a residence about two miles southeast of Teague on FM 1451 in Freestone County.
All three were charged with hindering the apprehension of a fugitive and possession of methamphetamine. Tuesday morning they remained in the Freestone County Jail in Fairfield. No bond had been set.
At 3:15 p.m. Monday, game wardens arrested 45-year-old Teddy Wayne Davenport of Mart on two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer and one charge of evading arrest.
The charges against Davenport stem from an incident Saturday that began when two game wardens attempted to stop a pickup truck that was being driven without headlights. The driver of the truck rammed the state vehicle the wardens were in, and when the wardens pursued it, someone in the truck shined a spotlight on the wardens and their vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a culvert.
One warden was hospitalized, the other treated at the scene.
Multiple agencies were involved in the investigation and subsequent arrests, including deputies from the McLennan, Leon, Limestone and Freestone county sheriff’s departments, the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, the U.S. Marshall’s Service and the Teague Police Department.
