A Fortune 500 technology company is in the process of moving its leadership from New Jersey to College Station.
Corporate officials of Cognizant were welcomed to town Monday morning by Governor Perry, Congressman Bill Flores, and A&M System Chancellor John Sharp.
Cognizant President Gordon Coburn says they are working to receive state economic development incentives. But that wasn’t going to delay their move.
Cognizant, which purchased local I-T company SourceNet Solutions, currently has a couple of hundred local employees.
Over the next three years, Coburn says a portion of 750 new Texas jobs will be in College Station.
Coburn also announced Cognizant will give A&M $150,000 during the next three years to apply to the university’s STEM program. STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and math.
