Former SA Officer Gets 15 Years in Colleague’s Death

SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ A former San Antonio police officer has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for manslaughter and aggravated assault in the 2008 traffic death of a colleague who was working an accident.

A Bexar County jury sentenced David Seaton on Wednesday to 15 years for manslaughter and 10 years for aggravated assault. Assistant District Attorney Adriana Biggs says the charges will be served concurrently.

Seaton, 45, was convicted of driving his squad car more than 100 mph without using flashing emergency lights while responding to a shoplifting call.

His cruiser hit a car and spun into Officer Robert Davis, who was clearing roadway flares at the scene of an unrelated traffic accident.

Davis, 26, later died of his injuries, and the driver of the car Seaton hit also was seriously injured.
