Bond Election Set for Washington County Multi-Purpose Facility

The Washington County Commissioners Court held a special meeting Friday morning to discuss a proposed Multi-Purpose Facility at the Washington County Expo Center. The court ordered that a bond election be added to the November 3, 2026 ballot. The proposition will allow Washington County voters to decide on whether or not to authorize funding for the project. The facility would provide a weather-protected, year-round flexible venue for livestock, equine, rodeo, agricultural, trade shows, community, and other events. It would also help attract larger events, that would in-turn, support local businesses, the tourism economy, and the overall economic impact the center has to the community. If approved, the project is estimated to result in a $0.0143 increase to the County’s Interest & Sinking (I&S) tax rate to fund the debt associated with the project. The Multi-Purpose Facility is part of the County’s long-term planning for the Washington County Expo and supports priorities identified through the Washington County Strategic and the Expo Master Plans. The plans focus on expanding the use of the Expo, increasing its economic impact, and continuing to support Washington County’s community and agricultural heritage.
