A former band director at Iola High School convicted almost two and a half years ago of having sexual contact with a student returned to Brazos County District Court.
William Watson had appealed the jury conviction and sentence handed down in January 2008. The Texas Court of Appeals upheld both.
And on Friday, District Judge J.D. Langley officially pronounced the sentence of five years prison and ten years probation. Among the conditions of probation is a ban from being employed by any school district.
The 30 year old Watson, who according to the Texas sex offender registry lives in Montgomery, was found guilty of having sex with a then 15 year old girl.
Watson’s mugshot from December 2008 is courtesy of the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Service.
