An audit by a Bryan church led to the discovery of 28 checks that were forged last year, totaling almost $30,000 dollars.

A former employee who was arrested told a Bryan police detective according to her arrest report that she asked and received around $3,000 dollars to help with medical issues.

The church pastor and two treasurers said they were never asked.

43 year old Donya Ragle of Bryan, who worked at the church for four years as a financial assistant, is out of jail after posting a $5,000 dollar bond following her arrest last Sunday.

According to the BPD arrest report, Ragle wrote two checks for $3,300 dollars each, another for $2,000, three for more than $1,400 each, and the rest for between $383 and $888 dollars apiece.
