Fog Causes Fatal Crash That Closes I-45 in Buffalo

Interstate 45 at Buffalo was closed in both directions for three hours Wednesday morning following a wreck where dense fog was a factor.

The driver of a pickup was killed after it was rear ended by a semi.

Buffalo Police Chief Lance Pavelka identified the victim as 32 year old John Picard of Austin.

The driver of the semi was transported for observation.

Pavelka says the collision was in the southbound lanes, but the semi struck the median cables and stretched them into the northbound lanes, shutting down all traffic.
