Flores Among Texas Congressmen Participating in Conference Call

A group of Republican Congressmen from the Houston area, including Bill Flores of Bryan, participated in a conference call Wednesday afternoon.

The 40 minute appearance, which included reporter questions, focused on the government shutdown that is now in its second day.

Flores said it was important to remember House Republicans are attempting to get the Democratic-controlled Senate and White House to agree to two things, a one year extension of Obamacare for individuals as has been approved for businesses and that federal employees in the legislative and executive branches are treated the same as all individuals.

Flores also wants Democrats to stop portraying Republicans as “arsonists”, “anarchists”, “extremists”, and “terrorists” among other names and phrases used the last couple of days.

Other Congressmen scheduled to participate in the conference call were Kevin Brady, Louie Gohmert, Ted Poe, John Culberson, Pete Olson, Blake Farenthold, and Randy Weber.
