College Station’s Easterwood Airport recently lost one weekend flight offered by American Airlines.
But airport manager John Happ doesn’t expect any further changes the rest of the year.
Happ says American Eagle dropped one Saturday flight on August 27th after having historically low passenger counts.
In the fourth quarter, which begins October 1st, American plans to cut midweek and Saturday flights.
American says it’s due to a spike in pilot retirements and the weak economy reducing demand for leisure travel.
Several airlines, including American, report corporate travel is holding up well.
Happ says recruitment continues to bring more flights and more carriers in and out of Easterwood.
