Fisher Says No New Opponent for Aggies on December 12

Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher says the team will not schedule a new opponent for this Saturday after its original one, Ole Miss, was forced to postpone because of COVID-19.

Speaking to reporters at his weekly SEC teleconference on Wednesday, Fisher said the Aggies will use the week to practice before wrapping up the regular season at Tennessee on December 19th.

Texas A&M isn’t the only team to have its game canceled this weekend. Ohio State and Michigan had their match-up crossed out as the Wolverines deal with the coronavirus.

The move left many fans and pundits wondering if the No. 4 Buckeyes and No. 5 Aggies could meet on the gridiron. However, Fisher says three days of preparation would not be enough for a game with playoff implications.

When pressed about playing a different out-of-conference team, Fisher answered with an emphatic, “no”.

Texas A&M currently sits at 7-1 on the year and is on the outside-looking-in at the College Football Playoff.
