First Meeting Of Brazos County’s New RMA Is Thursday

The first meeting of Brazos County’s new regional mobility authority is Thursday morning.

The RMA…a body that can negotiate future highway and other transportation projects with TxDOT…was authorized by the legislature last year.

But the state senate blocked a local request to increase vehicle registration fees in Brazos County by ten dollars to create a matching fund for local highway projects.

At the end of last week’s College Station city council meeting, there was approval to give the RMA $15,000 dollars in start up money. That’s followed a report by councilman Dennis Maloney, who represents the city on the board of the Brazos Valley Economic Development Corporation.

The inaugural RMA meeting is Thursday morning at nine in the Brazos County administration building’s courtroom.
