It’s the final weekend of the high school regular season and for the A&M Consolidated Tigers, the Tiger fight with the Belton Tigers tonight is significant. Both team are in the playoffs but for Consol, a win mean they run the table in district 12-5A and win the title outright. Belton would earn a share of the title with a win, a share that both team may also have to share with Copperas Cove if the Bulldawgs beat Harker Heights tonight.
The Consol Tigers have won eighth straight games and are favored by 21 over Belton according to the Harris Poll.
Kickoff at 7:30 and you can hear the game on 1620 WTAW with the pre-game at 7.

The Bryan Vikings have also clinched the playoffs and should go in on a winning note tonight when they meet a 1-8 Temple team at Merrill Green Stadium. Temple’s only win their year was against winless Shoemaker. Bryan is 5-4 and 3-3 in district play.
Kick at 7:30 at Green and you can hear the game on 1150 AM the Zone.
By the way, both Consol and Bryan have set their playoff dates and sites. Consol will play either North Mesquite or Tyler Lee next Friday night at 7:30 in Ennis. Bryan will play DeSoto next Saturday night in Corsicana.

The Rudder Rangers won’t make the playoffs but they will enjoy their first winning season. They will play at Elgin tonight to wrap up their third year of football. They are 6-3 and 2-3 in district play. Elgin is looking for it’s lone district win. You can hear that game on 96.9 Aggie Catholic Radio or at Candy 95.1 HD Radio.

Down the road in Navasota, the Rattlers host Giddings for the outright district title. You can hear that game on 1550 AM tonight. (A Giddings win would affect the other district 23-3A game between Rockdale and Caldwell as it would make it a winner-in and loser out game. If Navasota wins, Rockdale would have to beat Caldwell by eight points or more… that according to the trustworthy David Campbell of the Eagle)
