AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ The last of 130 combined federal and state Hurricane Ike recovery centers will close on Friday.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced the planned closure of the FEMA/state center in Galveston.
Ike slammed Southeast Texas on Sept. 13. FEMA says since then, more than 160,000 people visited recovery centers across Texas.
Coordinating officer Brad Harris says FEMA is continuing in its efforts to help Texas recover from the Ike disaster.
The center closing Friday is at the Galveston Island Community Center.
