Two fatal accidents took place Sunday in Grimes County.
Sunday afternoon near Navasota at 105 west and County Road 423, the driver of an SUV crossed into the wrong lane while trying to avoid a vehicle that pulled put in front of him, and he struck a car head-on.
The driver of the car was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, but the passenger, 26-year-old Anna Morgan-Penz of Austin, was killed at the scene.
The driver of the SUV is at the hospital in stable condition.
All were wearing seat belts.
Later, Sunday evening one mile south of Navasota on Highway 6, the driver of a semi had exited Trinity Heads and was waiting in the crossover when a car going 98 miles an hour changed to the inside lane and struck the trailer.
The driver of the car, 20-year-old Marcus Johnson of Houston, was killed on impact.
