Ex-Coach & QB Faces Extradition to TX

DALLAS (AP) _ Former CFL quarterback Cody Ledbetter has been jailed in Canada on domestic assault charges and faces extradition to Texas.

Ottawa Police Constable Kathy Larouche says Ledbetter was to appear in a court Thursday on charges of assault, uttering threats and an immigration warrant.

The 37-year-old Ledbetter surrendered Wednesday in connection with a July 31 incident in which his girlfriend was hurt.

The ex-high school coach in Alvarado, 35 miles southwest of Dallas, pleaded guilty in 2005 to having sex with a 16-year-old female student.

Lt. Tim Jones with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday that a warrant was issued earlier this year when Ledbetter stopped attending required meetings with his probation officer. He was serving 10 years of probation.
