AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _ The agency that manages the electric power distribution for most of Texas is renewing its appeal for conservation as another mass of arctic cold approaches the state.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas is projecting energy demand on Thursday morning will set a new winter record as another winter storm strikes North Texas.
ERCOT chief executive Trip Doggett says forecasters expect severe cold weather statewide this week, dropping temperatures back into the teens and 20s.
The current record for winter demand was set last week.
Doggett says ERCOT will “procure additional generation capacity for real-time operations to help maintain reliable delivery of power during this extreme weather event over the next few days.”
