Ennis Finishes Ninth at Illini Invitational

Wheaton Ennis paced the No. 16 Texas A&M men’s golf team with his ninth-place finish at the weekend’s OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational.

Ennis tied with seven other golfers at 1-under 209 for the tournament following his final round 1-over 71 at the par-70, 7,343-yard Olympia Fields Country Club. Texas Tech’s Tim Wiedemeyer won the tournament at 6-under 204.

The Aggies finished 12th at the tournament with a three-round score of 23-over 863. They checked in with a 12-over 292 on the final loop. Defending national champion Oklahoma State won the tournament at 6-under 834.

Kris Kuvaas and Aaron Pounds were the next Aggies on the leaderboard tied for 42nd at 7-over 217. They penciled in identical scores all three rounds, finishing with a 2-over 72 after tallies of 71 and 74 the two prior circuits.
