Emergency Alert at Texas State University

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) _ Texas State University has issued an emergency alert after two construction workers scuffled and one allegedly pulled a knife.

TSU spokesman Mark Hendricks says nobody was hurt Thursday and the search continues for the armed worker. Police believe he’s left the San Marcos campus.

Hendricks told The Associated Press that the alert about an “armed subject on foot” went out, via text and email, at 11:30 a.m. Thursday. The man is described as having a knife up to 10 inches long. Hendricks says police have identified the fugitive, who was working on a new residence hall.

Students and staff at TSU, with enrollment of about 34,000, were urged to avoid the north side of campus. No classes were canceled.

San Marcos is 30 miles south of Austin.
