There was a captive audience watching College Station firefighters arrive and extinguish a garage fire Monday afternoon.

According to CSFD captain Stuart Marrs, students from College Hills elementary who were on the playground saw firefighters deal with the fire on Walton involving a stand alone garage.

Firefighters found on arrival one car was on fire. A second car was damaged along with the structure.

Marrs said firefighters had to deal with chemicals that are typical of a repair garage or hobby shop…including propane cylinders and other petroleum and petrochemical products.

The fire, which was reported by a passerby and a school employee, was out in ten minutes.

No one was in the garage, no firefighters were injured, and the cause and origin of the fire are under investigation.
