Eight people were taken to the hospital following a three vehicle crash in Robertson County Sunday afternoon.
DPS trooper Jimmy Morgan reported a SUV was on Highway 79 waiting to make a left turn into Franklin Safari Park when it was rear-ended by a car.
Then a second SUV came up from behind and missed the other vehicles, but it went off the highway and struck a treeline.
Those who went to the hospital included four children with special needs and a nurse in the SUV that was rear-ended.
The mishap closed Highway 79 for almost three hours between Hearne and Franklin.
