DWI Arrest After Bryan Driver Strikes Road Signs Then A Gas Meter

The driver of a SUV that caught fire after striking a natural gas meter west of downtown Bryan Sunday afternoon was arrested by Bryan police for DWI.

According to the BPD arrest report, the SUV struck four road signs on Groesbeck before coming to rest on top of the gas meter near Groesbeck and Bittle.

According to online jail records, 39 year old Jose Covarrubias of Bryan is also being held to serve a six month sentence in an undisclosed civil case.

And he was arrested on two warrants from Bryan municipal court on alcohol related charges.
