Drunken Joyride in Stolen Vehicle Turns Fatal

SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ One San Antonio teen is dead and his friend is charged with intoxication manslaughter and vehicle theft after they took a stolen Jeep for a joyride.

San Antonio police Detective Brandon Campbell told the San Antonio Express-News that early Saturday morning 18-year-old Sean Patrick Korman was driving a topless Jeep Wrangler in tight circles at Oscar Perez Memorial Park with two passengers inside.

The vehicle flipped and 18-year-old Zachary Wendell was partially ejected. He died at the scene. Korman and another teen, who was not charged, suffered minor injuries.

Korman’s bond was set at $120,000. Police said Korman appeared to be under the influence of marijuana, but his family and friends denied he used the drug.
