TEXARKANA, Texas (AP) _ An East Texas correctional officer has been arrested for trying to smuggle marijuana into the facility via a bag of Cheetos Puffs.
Bowie County chief deputy Jeff Neal says the 19-year-old officer was searched after returning from a break just after midnight Tuesday. Neal says everyone and items always are searched before entering the facility.
A second officer found inside of the bag a purple object which contained the marijuana and tobacco.
Neal says a sheriff’s deputy was called to the center and arrested the 19-year-old for prohibited substances in a correctional facility. The correctional officer only had been employed for about one month before his arrest.
Neal says an investigation is ongoing.
