College Station Fire Department dive team members recovered the body of a man who drown while swimming in the lake a Central Park Saturday afternoon.
Fire department units responded to the reported drowning at 1:44 p.m. with the first unit arriving on the scene at 1:48 p.m.
Bystanders reported that the approximately 40 year-old man had been swimming when he went under water and did not surface. Responders were advised that he had been under water for approximately 5-10 minutes.
The fire department dive team was activated and divers entered the water at 2:38 p.m. The man was recovered at 2:42 p.m.
A total of five fire department units, staffed by 15 personnel responded to this incident and were assisted by several CSPD personnel.

On 4/6/13 at about 1:44 p.m. College Station Police and Fire Department units were dispatched to a reported drowning at Central Park situated at 1000 Krenek Tap Rd.
Family members of the deceased reported that 37 year-old Timothy Sumrall of College Station entered one of the fishing ponds there and started swimming. A short time later they realized he was missing and called CSPD.
College Station Fire Department divers were called to the scene and began search operations. Mr. Sumrall was recovered at approximately 2:42 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Members of CSPD’s criminal investigations division believe there is no suspicion of criminal activity at this time.
