This Thursday, Brazos County residents can receive free flu shots without ever leaving their cars.
The clinic’s head coordinator, Mike Paulus, says flu shots will be administered to anyone over age 18 at the Central Baptist Church parking lot from four to six in the afternoon as part of an emergency preparedness exercise.
Paulus calls it a “no muss, no fuss” point of distribution, and says that in the event of an epidemic, health services would use numbers from this exercise to increase efficiency in vaccine distribution, estimating how many people can get through such a distribution point in a set time period, as well as calculating how many distribution points they’d need in order to serve all the county.
He says that so far, they’ve found that drive-through clinics are much faster than walk-in clinics.
Those waiting in line will need to fill out a form with their demographics.
