The Brazos County District Attorney’s office has announced plea agreements in three criminal cases.
44 year old Michael Thomas of Bryan was convicted of making a bomb threat last year at A&M. A former university landscaper, Thomas wrote the phrase “Bomb at Kyle” on a bathroom wall in the Hagler building. Prosecutors dropped a charge related to a similar threat made two days later at the A&M alumni center. Thomas was sentenced to two years in prison. The punishment also covers a guilty plea to using a credit card he had stolen from a co-worker at A&M.
It’s been 16 months since an armed robbery at the Papa John’s Pizza at Highway 21 and Texas in north Bryan. 31 year old Barry Williams II of Bryan entered a guilty plea to the holdup, two residential burglaries, and four other crimes. Williams was sentenced to a total of 45 years. He must serve 22 and a half years before becoming eligible for parole. It will be his second term in prison, following a 2002 conviction for child molestation.
A College Station man who was beat up while in the county jail last September is headed to prison for eight years. 21 year old Devonte Shepard admitted to a residential burglary last August. College Station police believe he was involved in as many as a dozen break-ins last year.
