Design Process Underway On $11 Million Of Improvements At Easterwood Airport

Design work is underway on $11 million dollars of improvements at Easterwood Airport.

Texas A&M System vice chancellor Phillip Ray says the $4 million dollar renovation of the public terminal includes an expanded waiting area and TSA pre-security line for frequent travelers.

While a federal grant pays for most of the work at the public terminal, the A&M System’s third party operator is investing $7 million. Ray says Astin Aviation is putting $5.5 million into improvements for private aircraft.

Ray says Astin is also spending $1.5 million on an expanded rental car area.

Construction is expected to start this September and take ten months to complete.

While all that is going on, negotiations continue to expand passenger jet service.
