College Station Police Response To Three Weekend Crashes

College Station police report a motorcycle crash Saturday (September 28) resulted in the driver and a passenger being ejected. A post on CSPD’s Facebook page says the driver sustained undisclosed injuries. The passenger died. She was identified as Kahlayah Collins of College Station. This took place near Post Oak Mall at the southbound freeway frontage road and Holleman. On Sunday (September 29), CSPD officers responded to what their Facebook page says were two serious injury crashes. A driver involved in a crash on Wellborn Road in front of Texas Burger is hospitalized in critical condition. A dog in the vehicle died. And at Holleman South and Harvey Mitchell Parkway, there was a collision involving a moped and a vehicle. The CSPD Facebook post says the driver of the moped was taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Death Of Bryan High Football Coach And Bryan ISD School Board Member Merrill Green

The namesake of the Bryan school district’s football stadium has died. The announcement of Merrill Green’s passing was shared on the X/Twitter account of Bryan High School principal Lane Buban. Green coached the Bryan High football team between 1972 and 1992. He was also a member of the Bryan ISD school board for more than 12 years, retiring from that position in 2012. A biography published by the Chickasha, Oklahoma school district says Green graduated high school there as senior class president. The biography also points out Green graduated from the University of Oklahoma, where he was a member of the 1950 national championship football team and the 1951 national championship baseball team. Green moved to Bryan after spending seven years at Abilene Cooper High School. Before beginning his high school coaching career, Green coached on the collegiate level at Wichita State, the University of Missouri, the University of Arkansas and at Texas Tech. Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Merrill Green was 94 years old.

Baylor Scott & White Health Announces A New Contract With Blue Cross-Blue Shield Of Texas

There is a new contract between Baylor Scott and White Health (BSW) and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (BCBS-TX). A BSW spokeswoman tells WTAW News that an agreement was reached that will keep their providers in network with BCBS-TX. No details of the new contract were released. The BSW spokeswoman says “as related documents are finalized, BCBS members will continue receiving uninterrupted, in-network care.” BCBS-TX issued on its website, a statement that is similar to what was issued by BSW. Statement from Baylor Scott & White Health: We’re pleased to share that Baylor Scott & White (BSWH) and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) have reached agreement that will keep BSWH in network. As related documents are finalized, BCBS members will continue receiving uninterrupted, in-network care from BSWH.
