SAN ANTONIO (AP) _ Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed has refused to sue the state on behalf of a county commissioner who is seeking to protect his e-mails from a public records request.
The commissioner could face prosecution, by Reed’s office, over his refusal to release the e-mails.
The San Antonio Express-News reported Thursday that Reed cited a potential conflict of interest in refusing to sue.
The Texas Attorney General’s Office has said Commissioner Tommy Adkisson must release e-mails from his personal accounts if they contain information on public business.
The Express-News sought the release, in part, because of Adkisson’s involvement with the Metropolitan Planning Organization.
The AG’s office says failure to release the records could result in criminal prosecution.
